The Ajuda Library offers a varied range of services to both readers who come here in person and those who want to access our resources by any remote means.

Reading service – Individual access to the Reading Room requires a Reader’s Card, which is available to users of any nationality aged 18 or over. The Reader’s Card is issued against display of the user’s Identity or Citizen’s Card (citizens of Portugal, Brazil, and other Portuguese-speaking and European Union countries), or passport.

The Reference service – is provided by qualified staff, who will show readers how to use the Library’s services and offer support for their research and investigations. Access the Online Catalogue.

The Bibliographic Information Service – responds free of charge to individual bibliographic questions, by post, e-mail or telephone. Requests for more extensive research on given authors or topics are charged for in accordance with the applicable pricelist.

The Copying Service – (photocopying or digitalisation, both in black-and-white) is available on request, which can be made either in person in the Reading Room, or at a distance via any means of communication.

Study Visits – on a variety of topics and suited to groups of visitors, they must be scheduled and organised in advance by telephone/fax (+351 -213 638 592) or e-mail (bibajuda@pnajuda.dgpc.pt).
